Chipolo today announced the launch of a series of "Perfectly Imperfect" CARD Spot wallet trackers, which are identical to its standard Chipolo CARD Spot trackers, but with flaws in the plastic casing.

This limited edition series takes advantage of plastic that would otherwise have been discarded and wasted. The item trackers have a blemish on one side and a "Perfectly Imperfect" engraving on the other side.
"Chipolo is excited to introduce the 'Perfectly Imperfect' limited series of CARD Spot trackers, as it's another testament to our dedication to create products that make our lives easier -- both physically, through functionality and mentally, by helping to bring people peace of mind", said Primož Zelenšek, Co-founder and CEO at Chipolo. "Through this campaign, we want to inspire a shift in perspective, encouraging people to embrace their imperfections and recognize the real beauty in what makes each of us irreplaceable."
The Chipolo CARD Spot is designed to fit inside a wallet, and it works with Apple's Find My network. The CARD Spot can be tracked right alongside Apple devices and the AirTag in the Find My app.

Chipolo plans to donate $1 to a non-profit organization for each of the CARD Spots that are sold, and each one is priced at $35, the same as the standard CARD Spots.

I have tested the chiplo card extensively and can't recommend it for one simple reason: its reset button will activate if you apply any pressure to the card. I assume it's meant for a wallet, which might be sat on, which frequently resets it. This could be used in a purse, but you might as well carry an AirTag then. They really should have thought about using a paperclip hole, or requiring an impulse code to reset this thing.

I personally like and have the Rolling Square AirCard. In addition to the Find My capability it also has RFID and a bar code for me to share my contact information making it a digital business card. I've used this feature much more frequently than the lost wallet feature (thankfully). Also, it's currently cheaper than the Chipolo.

Good point. I have one in my wallet, but I don't carry my wallet in my pants pockets, so I've never thought about this from your perspective. I do like the Chiplo solution, though.

They should stick to making tacos.
I'm legit glad I'm not the only one who misread "Chipotle" and spent at least half a minute wondering WTF Chipotle was doing making a tracking device and just how in the hell it would work. Someone steals your wallet and you only find out if they happen to be hungry for some carne asada that day?

Okay, I'm probably the only one who went onto that latter half.

I really miss some options with integrated UWB to be able to pin point location of my items silently during early morning or late at night. Apple should really provide(as in sell ofc) third parties either with ultra-wideband U1/2 chips or license for it. Or make wallet-type/ID card AirTag themselves already.

I bought the regular (or "perfect," I guess?) Chipolo wallet tracker last year because it's thinner than an Airtag.

I regret the purchase.

Sometimes it would beep repeatedly for no reason. This first happened during a meeting with my boss and others, not great. It happened a few more times. I communicated back and forth with tech support and couldn't fix the problem. I stopped using it, and by then it was too late to return. :(

You can only reset it via the small 1cm indented circle on the front corner of the card. Applying pressure anywhere else does nothing. I've been using it for over 12 months in my wallet and it has never reset itself.

That and if my experience is indicative at all, you probably have to keep your wallet in your front pocket. Surely it was designed to be put in any pocket, right? I don't keep my wallet in my front pocket and broke my card's speaker by sitting on it, and I'm not even that heavy. It still makes sound, but it's so quiet that it's rendered basically useless. The battery died and I haven't felt like replacing it.

Great product idea, horrid execution.

I’d recommend the Seinxon cards instead, which have the benefit of being rechargeable.

This - I had one the Chipolo cards and it literally failed at the one thing it was intended to do - find my wallet. Expensive wallet gone with all cards that had to be cancelled.

It perpetually gets disconnected and falls off the grid, requiring re-syncing. And the FindMy reliability is nowhere near as good as an actual AirTag.

I have the Chipotle Card Spot, too, and I carry it in my wallet, which I keep in my back pants pocket. I have never had it reset on me. Maybe I have it in my wallet in a different orientation, or the size, format and shape of my wallet makes the difference…

Wait, so it's a 2nd as it is blemished, so they add cost by engraving it and claim it is now a limited edition to be sold at the same price?!?!?!
This reminds me of ripped blue jeans that were/are in the rage. Except that Chipotle's Perfectly Imperfect wallet has nothing in the way of style.

As others have said, one fatal flaw in the Chipolo is that the battery is not rechargeable, nor is it user replaceable. Once it dies, you throw the thing away - so wasteful! There are numerous options now that are rechargeable and work well with Find My. I have the Pebblebee and it’s been great. There are even thinner options now, too.

It’s really a shame that MacRumors (and Apple) keep giving this inferior product so much press.

I used Chipolo card for about a year. It worked poorly.
1. It often sends wrong "left behind" notification when my wallet is with me.
2. It often results in alarms just because the card thinks I reset it. Not even because of pressure, just by itself.

Do not recommend this product at all

So they had some manufacturing issues with their plastic injection molding and got the marketing dept involved on how to save their hundred thousand unit run and sell it for the same price by spinning some tale about each one being a special snowflake and limited edition and then they can write off a dollar from each unit for charity. Kinda hilarious.

I can't recommend the Card Spot. I've had one for the better part of a year, and it randomly reports that it was left behind weeks ago in some random place where I was once. Nor can it be triggered to play a sound, even when in the same room as my phone. I emailed support, and their suggestion was to go through a long reset and re-pair procedure before they would even consider replacing it under warranty. Never bothered.

To be fair, I get this same issue with my AirTags, every morning when I am riding with them in my briefcase I get the notification of "left behind" as well, which sometimes has even made me turn back home for nothing.

Definitely don't see the advantage in buying this. The price should have been less than the normal one.
