The annual CES event kicks off this week, and we sent MacRumors videographer Dan Barbera to hunt down cool new products and technologies that are being previewed this year. CES officially starts tomorrow, but Dan attended CES Unveiled last night, and was able to get an early look at devices from Samsung,

Samsung showed off new OLED TVs with an updated anti-reflective coating that makes them much better in bright rooms and with reflective lights, plus there was a new 8K projector and some very impressive transparent OLED screens.

Samsung had a neat 2D/3D display that uses cameras and eye tracking to display content in 3D without the need for glasses, and Dan was also impressed with a customizable music frame that holds artwork but also serves as a speaker for a subtle surround sound system.

At Unveiled, Dan checked out a pet-focused robot vacuum and mop combo from Narwhal, Belkin's Qi2 wireless chargers and StandDock Pro, a Keurig sort of device for ice cream, and some retro Mac power adapters from Sharge.

Make sure to watch the full video to see the products in action, and stay tuned to MacRumors because we'll be sharing CES videos and articles for the next few days.

The see-through micro-LED screen is fascinating tech, but I'm not sure of the use-case scenario besides virtual overlays (like the sporting events they briefly mentioned). I guess if you linked four together in the shape of a box, you could create a heck of a virtual aquarium.

I was thinking if you sandwiched several, maybe hundreds, of these panels together, you could create a 3d/holographic image that could be viewed from different angles, and from the back perhaps.. Maybe the sides, too?

Totally unfeasible in its current state and probably a silly idea.. 😂

Great video, Dan! Loved it!

For your vaccums and dog hair, if you "brush the brush" with a dog brush back-and-forth, it removes the hair easily. Makes it super-easy to clean..

Transparent displays! Wow! The future has officially arrived! Samsung is on fire! Too bad I can never buy their products directly. 🤣

Am I the only one that is genuinly excited about the glasses-free 3D monitor?! It's basically a giant Nintendo 3DS, including the eye-tracking. I hope it works well, I am honestly quite intrigued by it.

Yup, and sends your eye analysis back to the mother ship so they can advertising your next pair of glasses or eye doctor to you! 🤣 No, I'm sure it's safe and private. 😇

Will be great for fancy store displays ,mall decorations, etc. Not just "displays" but fully animatable "screens". Imagine advertising on windows... yup, you heard it here first!

Transparency devices are all depicted in futuristic movies from Iron Man to Star Trek to minority report.

Wandering if that ice cream has no milk in it, they have something like that here. o_O

Apple already has a bunch of patents on something like this. It's hard to understand some patents without knowing the target product, and these fall in that category!
My assumption is that after/once Vision Pro is established and people see how much 3D can add to the workflow, there will be a demand for screens that can do the same thing without Vision Pro, at least for some years, and Apple wants to be prepared for that.

The thing people always obsess over is the image generation (Apple seems to be settled on lenticular lenses) but much of the work is in less sexy stuff like how to overload existing VESA standards to pack a 3D frame into the signal.

Seriously, that's a potential use case for the vision pro. Apple arcade games really need to support 3D.

Ice Cream! Did he say Ice Cream? Ya, I'm in, in, in. It will be the next addition to the camper. Great for those hot days after the lake and assorted shenanigans he he.

Now back to your regular programming .

Transparent OLED screens look fantastic. Glass free 3D displays were also interesting.

I really like the anti-reflective coating on those Samsung TVs as I live in a very bright apartment, but I am going to have to wait until LG has them too before I can enjoy them
