LG's transparent version will be better than Samsung's. This model from LG will be ultra expensive just like the rollable TV from LG.

Manufacturers, stop calling things leather when they’re not!
Leather is tanned animal skin, full stop.
It CANNOT be Vegan or made from Cactus!
So true, but there will be a lot of manipulation and cheap substitution. Not because business cares about environment, but because they want to increase the profit margin.

it's interesting how a certain kind of person gets really upset when the word vegan enters the fray.

It's a generally accepted substitute. Just as e.g. '[insert grain or legume here] extract to replace cow milk is called [see before] milk by the general populace.

Stuff like Clarino has been called artificial leather for years. Also, remember Naugahyde - the Corinthian Leather of Vinyl? The only time they called stuff like that vinyl is in cars when there was a leather trim higher up, and I really doubt anyone back in the 60's got very upset about that. The recent trend is where stuff developed as artificlal leather or suede replacements have actually achieved better performance so they seek to differentiate that with a specific name - e.g. Alcantara.

It's all marketing, by marketing companies. You know, what Apple is first and foremost for example.

Not Bothered about vegan at all, if you read my post, it’s the fact leather is being used to describe a product that is not leather.
I just used vegan as the other example of leather misuse as it seems to be widely employed.
Be creative and come up with a new term. For example, the ones you mention all had brand names that didn’t say leather or vinyl.
I’m all for more sustainable products in all walks of life, but annoys me when they are misdescribed or used out of the original context.
I actually like the idea of the case and think it has a great selling point, but just call it Cactus Case or something :)

Slightly off topic, I also find it slightly odd that vegan and leather are used together anyway, when vegans specifically do not touch any animal products, yet leather is widely used to describe animal products!

You mention marketing, yet that to me seems to be negative marketing.

Anyway, had my say and nothing meant negatively against any vegan members if that was what was thought.

Probably super expensive for little value added, but I could also see a transparent screen being used as a variant of the Samsung The Frame, where you can use it as the glass in front of a piece of art of your choosing, and when you want to watch TV, it becomes opaque and obscures it. The piece of art not producing light the way The Frame does would make it feel way more inconspicuous.
