Does it support Thread? No? Not going in my house. Done with Fickle WiFi connected devices that only support 2.4GHz and can’t keep a connection.
😂😂😂 well good luck with thread cus nothing on my network has been more fickle than thread. I have like one of if device out of dozens that has issues but half my thread stuff fails in a far too often basis and contrary to what they say it’s not self healing at all

I can still get kerosene for my oil lamps. 😉

That said I understand your reticence.

I still use LED bulbs. I don't put incandescents in them. It's more along the lines of buying a vehicle with the hood welded shut vs one that lets you repair it.

That said, I do enjoy antiques and we have a lot of them.

I will buck the trends.

I've loved all my Govee stuff and am super interested in that ceiling light to do sunrise style wake ups for my entire bedroom.

So glad this uses Generative AI models to create lighting scenes. What a breakthrough!

Plus how many trillion colors? How would we ever know!

Huh? Screw-in bulbs are simply stop gaps for LED in legacy fixtures with lamps. ALL NEW LED fixtures have the lamp integrated, because they are more efficient and they last longer. No new building you go into uses screw-in bulbs - they all have dedicated LED fixtures, like these. The fixture life is 20+ years or more (example: I have dedicated LED fixtures in my house built in 2012 with zero failures in 14 years).

I really like the Govee stuff overall but all of it is so super modern looking. I wish they’d do some stuff that was a little more classic. I feel like most of their stuff would be out of place in anything built before 2015.

281 trillion color combinations… granted I know that it’s probably a marketing gimmick to get people to be like “oh thats good”. But if I changed the color every second, it would take 8.9 million years to cycle through every color lol
I like to change my color every millisecond, so I’ll wait for the 600 trillion color model.

Graphic lighting can use AI Lighting Bot 2.0 to generate animated visuals, with the AI capabilities available across a range of Govee products.
This is actually a significant upgrade, at least for their permanent outdoor lights product. I noticed it before New Year’s, and got it to dial up a custom New Year’s effect that fit just what I wanted. The old version was pretty basic and you couldn’t layer effects—at least it never seemed to work for me. The best part is that I could have it tweak different aspects and it was modifying them very close to what I wanted. The old one would just generate a completely new looking effect each time. I can say things like “add some cool white sparkle” and “decrease the pulsation of the sparkle” and “add a ribbon of gold running down the length” and “slow down the gold ribbon” and it all worked great layering it all. I still need to play with it more to see what it is now capable of.

I miss the design of their original floor lamp. I don’t like the big chonky base. I’d get the original except I don’t think it had white LEDs or th ability to tune the color without using the RGB. Mainly want one on either side of my TV for ambient glowing light around my TV, that can also work as normal lights, and can turn team colors when having people over for games. Might mount some lighting strips to the back of my TV instead.

I’ve been wanting to try these but two things put me off.
1) No Zigbee or Thread support. I prefer having my smart home stuff running on these protocols rather than on WiFi. I currently have around 50 Zigbee devices (Hue and IKEA), and for the most part it has been flawless. Only for certain types of devices I use WiFi (such as robot vacuums).
2) Price. They are way cheaper than the Philips Hue alternatives which make me wonder if they are any good both in terms of hardware quality and reliability and software. This is especially concerning for the ceiling lights as I’d hate to drill holes to install it only for it to fail a few years later. Philips Hue ceiling lights I have a better time trusting as they seem reliable and can technically be repaired (even if by Philips themselves only).

Govee today introduced three new HomeKit-compatible lighting products, including the Govee Floor Lamp 3, the Govee Ceiling Light Ultra, and the Govee Sky Ceiling Light.

The Govee Floor Lamp 3 is the successor to the Floor Lamp 2, and it offers Matter integration with the option to connect to HomeKit. The Floor Lamp 3 offers an upgraded LuminBlend+ lighting system that can reproduce 281 trillion colors, and it supports 1000K to 10000K light temperature range.

LuminBlend+ is a color management system that offers accurate, true-to-life colors across any setting thanks to proprietary Gamma calibration. It supports an ultra-wide spectrum of lighting moods, and will be coming to additional Govee lights in 2026.

Govee's 21-inch Matter-compatible Ceiling Light Ultra has a 616-LED matrix that can render detailed patterns and scenes. Visuals can be created with up to eight distinct layers of motion, color, and shapes, plus there are 20+ presets to choose from. Govee says that it provides sufficient illumination for family areas while also offering a natural, true-to-life appearance across objects and skin tones. The light offers 5000 lumen brightness for spaces between 200 and 300 square feet, and there is a 2700K to 6500K tunable white range that can shift throughout the day.

The 21-inch Sky Ceiling Light is meant to mimic natural daylight using a custom-engineered LED and gradient illumination to recreate sky tones from daytime blue to warm sunset gradients. It offers calming blue light that Govee says feels like looking up into a clear sky, with edge-mounted LEDs so that it looks like an architectural skylight. The light provides up to 5200 lumens of brightness, and it is designed to light spaces between 200 and 300 square feet. Like Govee's other lights, it supports Matter so it can be added to the Apple Home app.

Govee is also announcing AI Lighting Bot 2.0, which uses generative models to create lighting that is more "expressive, intuitive, and emotionally responsive." Light strips and permanent lights are able to react to mood or context in real-time and learn behaviors.

Graphic lighting can use AI Lighting Bot 2.0 to generate animated visuals, with the AI capabilities available across a range of Govee products.

A new DaySync circadian lighting feature is also being incorporated into Govee lights. DaySync matches indoor lighting to the time of day with preset options that automatically adjust brightness, color, and color temperature for more natural home lighting.

More information is available on Govee's website, with pricing and availability of the new devices set to be announced at a later date.

Can I stream "videos" on the ceiling light at night?

Floor light looks nice. Don't think I will get the ceiling light. Waiting to hear information on its price. Also think there will be many such smart home lights going to be announced at CES.

Smart lights have been my stupidest purchases.
Love the smart cameras and locks but the lights don't perform and add no value to my life.

Part of that is the horrible integration (or ridculous cost....talking to you Phillips.)
