Correction: "...whining about the LACK of high-end cards..."

Technically what I said was perfectly true. The subject of his whining involves high-end video cards. What specifically he was whining about them I didn't specify, but it was implied that he was whining about their absence, which is what I meant. He's whining about high-end video cards; it's colloquial way of putting it, perhaps not strictly semantically correct, but then, I didn't figure people would be anal retentive about it. My mistake.

And there has been talk of the 3600s if you cared to look.

Given I've pretty much been reading all the threads, I can say I'm pretty sure I'm the one who's mostly been talking about the 36x0's.

Addition: whining about the lack of high-end cards easily found on 17" PC laptops equal to or even slightly lower in price than the MBP.

At least you admit you whine. And as has been pointed out to you I'm going to go with dozens of times, those laptops are a great deal thicker, heavier, and unsightly.

It's the 1" thickness that is responsible for you people having to make do nursing your boners over 3670s, just one third of an inch thicker and you people could be looking forward to cards that are actually competitive at all in the pro notebook market.

Wrong. Sorry kiddo, it's not just the 1" thickness that gets in the way.

Even if they could, Apple wouldn't put in a high end card. They never have, and likely never will.

"Just 1/3 of an inch thicker" is also rather laughable. You're kidding, right? That's 33% thicker than it already is. That's like someone who's six feet tall saying "if only I was two feet taller, my life would be better." (In case you have trouble with simple arithmetic, that would make him 8 feet tall.) That's how big of a difference you're talking about.

If Apple increased the laptop to 1.33", it would probably cut its user base by at least 75%, possibly more. I can promise you I would not buy it.

And out of curiosity, what would you bold if they still used PowerPCs? I'm guessing now "pro," since that wouldn't be cute. Power, maybe?

Pro just stands for professionals. Professionals don't need gaming cards. 98% of the professional world doesn't need workstation graphics cards, either, but for those very few that do, they probably wouldn't be doing their work on a laptop anyway.

Professional just means someone who's a professional at something they do. Pro photographers, video editors, writers, etc. They don't all need quad core no-battery life monsters

Apple has its client base, is happy with it, and is in no hurry to change things. Why are you still talking about this? You might as well complain about the way the sun sets, it's set in stone.

Actually, I think with Apple's expanding user base, they may one day a few years from now realize the gaming market is profitable and give the mac pro and the mac book pro some real graphics cards.

Well, the MBP is thin, so it'd be more like a 4 foot tall 8 year old saying his life would be better if he hit 6 feet by the time he turned 9. :D

Looking at your sig you don't look like a laptop guy anyway :D.

I agree for right now, sort of. Their client base is growing very quickly; a few years ago the ipod touch would have been seen as cannibalizing iphone sales, but now they have the numbers to pull it off.
