My gf got hers 4 days early when Verizon launched and it was activated with no problem...

Yep just plugged it into iTunes and that was it

I got my 4 a day early and had no issues activating. I think this is one of the reasons they release the updated iTunes and iOS before the phone launches. So the early shipping people can take advantage. Also getting the phone to some people early helps spread out the "activation traffic" on launch day.

Agreed. And a smaller number may actually get them on Wednesday.

The vast majority will come on Friday, as scheduled.
