Sorry to harp on about this, but I just don't understand this at all..... if the capacity isn't higher with DVD-R and you can't use blue-ray discs in the current slot-loader then what is the point?

you can still burn hi-def blu-ray type video just not near as much

its great for someone who just wants to make a 30 minute video of a family trip they shot on their HD camcorder

MacBooks won't get BR until they are mainstream in the home user market. Say 3-5 years? Right now it is a small, high-end market. How long was it after home DVD set-top boxes got big that we saw them in computers? How long after that did we start to see them in laptops? And how long was it before they were actually affordable?

It will be a a long time before we start to see them in MacBooks. If we ever do. Remember, MacBooks are an entry level laptop. The base unit still ships with a combo drive for crying out loud! The way Apple and Intel are going imagine the state of the MacBook Air 3-5 years from now! The Air may be more powerful than the MacBook. Maybe the only MacBook will be the Air. We may not have an optical drive at all! Which I can totally see Apple's position: You want Blu Ray? Go Pro.
