Sooooo....

With the news today, which is another confirmation, about the next iPhone getting a better camera with more megapixels. Do people still think the non Plus iPhone 6S will get optical image stabilisation?

I am rather hopeful it will. I think I've decided my next phone will be either the new LG Nexus 5 or the iPhone 6S.

I hope they try to keep features seamless between the 6s and 6s+, I know I will get the plus but I only want the price difference to be based on the screen, device and battery size not a super charge for extra features.

The Plus model should be a more capable device, not just the same device with a bigger screen.
Someone in another thread told me that they use their 6+ just like any other iPhone and that the screen is too small for serious browsing. Well some of us bought the 6+ expecting to be able to do more with it than we could with our old iPhone 5/5S, but sadly that wasn't the case. It is underpowered, low on RAM and the larger screen aside, much worse as a browsing tool than previous iPhones. Data-heavy sites perform atrociously. If they aren't reloading then they're stuttering and freezing.

So yeah, for me the Plus model should pack more guts and be more of a transition device between the iPhone and iPad. Let people have the choice; a bigger and more capable device, or a more pocketable one-handed tool for basic smartphone use on the fly.

Better CPU/GPU and more RAM, yeah sure. It's needed to support the higher resolution. However, I'd like to see feature parity (e.g. OIS, etc) between the regular and Plus models. The regular iPhones are still flagship devices and they deserve flagship treatment. Mind, I reckon a GPU and RAM upgrade (basically A8X and 2GB RAM similar to Air 2 specs), would probably have solved issues power users have with the 6 Plus.

Exactly, if you want a difference between the two then they can increase the CPU speed in the Plus as it has the bigger battery and more space for cooling. The ram will be 2gb on both I would think so IOS 9 will run properly with all its features.
And since when has the standard iPhone been considered a 'basic' smartphone?! They only had one size until last year? I hardly call them basic. Apple have no reason to not include OIS and all the other same camera specs on both devices.

Although they can leave the 4K recording to the Plus model as I don't see the point of using your storage up for a 5 minute video, and running your battery flat and overheating your phone.

It just depends if Apple decides in the future to differentiate the 6 plus more from the 6 than they have now, like give it more ram, a faster clock speed, and allow iOS to do more than it does now, etc. This year they gave it a bigger battery and better camera, but the software is about the same.

They can differentiate the 6+ by giving it some of the multitasking features of iOS 9.
It does make sense to adopt multitasking only on the larger display of the 6+ and that alone would be a great incentive to buy the Plus.

Let's see what they do with RAM, I really expect 2GB on the Plus for multitasking but I hope they'll put 2GB on the 4.7'' as well.
OIS may be exclusive to the Plus like today

I do want the same features on the 4'7 and yes that includes OIS. I don't want to get a larger device, just to get more features, I don't apple to just put their high end features on their larger modelss, just like Android manufacturers do. I do hope the 6S gains OIS. Hopefully the only difference will be the higher resolution and larger battery..

Both the i6 and the 6+ are pretty basic smartphones to be fair. They can't multitask, can't keep apps & browser tabs in memory, can't perform split-screen, can't send files by bluetooth or infrared and the i6 has a low-res display etc. Compared to other top smartphones they are pretty basic.

I don't see why not.

I agree except with the 32gb thing

Apple certainly learned their lesson. a lot more people ended up paying $100 more for their iphones to jump to the 'no-brainer' 64gb option...more $$$

16gb will stay

That isn't :apple:'s aim. People who bought 16GB will keep buying 16GB. If they didn't pay the extra money for the 32GB model, there is no reason why they would do so with 64GB.

Pretty much none of these features are needed. Multitasking is nearly useless in a phone. The space is just too small. It can send files through Bluetooth, ever heard of AirDrop? And the iPhone 6 has a low resolution display? Seriously? 326ppi is excellent. Anything higher is useless. No, I'm not a fanboy, just stating some points.

Well I multitasked just fine on my iPhone 5. It's a shame they removed the capability from the 6+...
How do you Airdrop a file from an Android device to an iPhone, or the other way 'round?
As for the display, anything less than 1080p is actually pretty dreadful. Once you've owned an HD phone you can tell the difference immediately.

He does have some valid points though. I don't usually transfer files via Bluetooth, but you have to have a compatible Apple device to do so. For some this isn't a problem, but for others it may be. There are other methods, like uploading to the cloud and sharing that way, but it is still an inconvenience to not have more options.

326ppi is decent for a phone, but you do notice the lower resolution when coming from a higher resolution display. I've seen 2K screens, and didn't think it was that much better over having a 1920x1080 display in a ~5.5" display. At a lower resolution, and being only 4.7", the iPhone 6 looks fine; but there has to be a compromise in ppi somewhere and I don't think 326 is it. It wouldn't surprise me if Apple coined the term "Retina +" and came out with a new standard at like 410ppi or something.

Multitasking does have a point on a smartphone, and if you don't think so then that's okay, but some of us want to be able to do more with our device. If a current day flagship device has issues with multitasking multiple web pages, an average game, email, and a social media account, then something needs to be done. I can hold 4 tabs, email, a game, and stream music on my 2GB Android device whereas I couldn't do that on my iPhone 6. I feel Apple makes a good overall product, but the user experience is the part that is currently lacking; most notably with multitasking.

Agreed. People are delusional if they think Apple will sacrifice that immense profits they got by getting more people to opt for the 64GB and 128GB by cutting out the 32GB and keeping the 16GB the base. Their ASP (average sales price) of the iPhone 6 is over $650 which means on average more people are buying the higher capacity models than before. From a business perspective it was an absolutely genius move on their part. People thinking there will be a 32GB iPhone base model in September are setting themselves up for disappointment. Apple is all about maximizing profitability.

Also hoping the 6s gets OIS. Not even hoping for the 32GB version because it probably just won't happen, but when they do surprise us, that would be the sweet spot. Almost bought an iPhone 6 this week but I'm going to resist. When I do spend that 800 euros I'd rather wait two more months and get that 6s for the same price. But, it's hard..

That's my situation too, but it's far better to wait and be patient!

That or a lot of people are buying the 6 Plus. That said I agree, as with most companies Apple is all about maximizing profits. They just tend to be more successful than most when it comes to maximizing their profit margins.
