Is there any chance whatsoever that stores will have spare stock on Friday?

If so, is there a certain time they'll be released to be ordered online with store collection?

Apple usually has some phones instock at most Apple Stores for early walk ins last year they still had models available around 11am on launch day (in years past of you were not in line by 6AM chances are you would not be getting a phone.
But with pre orders and multiple countries being having the same launch date the scalpers are almost a thing of the past so you do not need to worry about 100 plus people buying 2 phones each then hopping back inline.

Get there early before 8am or earlier if you can and you should have a good chance of getting phone as long as you are flexible on colour and storage size

Yes, Apple will have stock. They usually allocate certain amount to allow in-store pick up and reserve the rest for the walk-in purchases.

As for the online order pick up. Apple disabled that feature since Monday and it will be re-enabled back on Saturday. So you will not see the Available for pick up feature on Friday. So you may have to wait till Saturday for that feature, otherwise travel to your nearest Apple Store.

Good to know, thanks. I only ask as I'm second-guessing my decision to go with EE as I'm probably paying too much with them. The Apple store is right next to their shop where I have to go to pick up my phone, so if I happen to be able to grab one in the store on pay monthly then I should be able to cancel my pre-order and contract with EE and go sim only.
