Is it possible to change an optical drive on a mb/mbp? I am in the market for a new notebook however I am frustrated and waiting for a revision to the new Memro chip. I want to in the future be able to upgrade the optical drive to a blu-ray is this possible with apple or does it have to come factory installed?

Keep your warranty, save yourself the hassle, and save yourself the upgrade BTO costs of a future computer.

Buy external. Its portable, can be used on different computers, involves no opening of the unit - and keeps your warranty intact.

Yeah, many notebook optical drives are slightly too large at the edge for Mac laptops and need to be attacked with a hacksaw to fit. Of course, we don't know how large the Blu-Ray drives will be, but I agree with josh.thomas that you should get an external when the time comes. :)
