Change Default Volume / Brightness Increment?

It's nice being able to change the volume & brightness by smaller increments using Shift + Option + Volume, but what do I need to do to make this small increment the default my Mac uses? I want to just press Volume+ and have it go in 1/4 increments, no more 3-key pressing...
