Change Email and Ringtone on iPhone 4

Hi..
I just got a new iPhone 4 and would like to set my own songs as the ringtone and email tone as well.
But I dond find its settings to do that.

Can anyone help please?
 
Yeah I know, how to create.

But where do we set up those as ringtones or email tones ?
I dont find the place for email tone in my iPhone 4 .

Im not Jboken. Dont want to.
 
After syncing you should be able to find your custom ringtones in Sounds > Ringtone, same place where the default ringtones are.
 
I guess theres really no way around the email tone. You are stuck with the default tone unless you go the JB path. :p
 
Custom email tones??? Is that even possible on a cell phone? I'm guessing since its not possible on the iPhone there isn't a phone in the world capable of such complex customization :D

For what it's worth, my old Blackberry Bold was able to do this. Shame this option isn't default in iPhone's OS.

I'm sure there are tons of phones that can do this. I wish Apple would learn that people want to be able to customize stuff. It seems stupid but its what people want

That's just how apple rolls. It doesn't seem to be hurting sales.

I can set email tones fine on my blackberry, nokia, etc.

You never seen that ?

All Im asking is, how can we set the same on the iPhone, like whatever tone we want for the emails.

Not possible (yet).
 
Hi..
I just downloaded 600 ringtones for the iPhone , but alas, when Connect it to the iTunes 10, there is no Ringtones tab.
What to do ?

How to feed those tones now :(

Where from and what format are your ringtones? Unless they are .m4a (or something along those lines), they won't work. If they are the right format, drag and drop into iTunes library and you'll be fine.

Yes yes, it's picky, but that's just the way it is.
 
its all m4r.

Do I need to rename it to all m4a ?


And I mean, I dont see the RINGTONES tab at iTunes.

So, once converted, where shall I move all those m4a files ?
 
Tones

APPLE---Please let us set a custom tone for email and SMS messages. It does not make sense to not allow it.

Hello, same question like you came to my mind and i decide to search on net .. and i found this page .. some people said its impossible but suddenly came to my mind how to setup .

ok lets get started :

on your IPhone go to Settings --> Sounds -->scroll down you will see New Email open it then you can choose what tone you like
