Hi,

The icons for various external disks work to an extent, in that:

* Silver = standard, writable disk
* Gold = encrypted, writable disk

BUT:

* Gold = read-only filesystem (e.g., NTFS)

Is there a way to change it so read-only OR NTFS drives show the same icon, but in red?

This would really help distinguish which drives are writable/encrypted/read-only at a glance. It's really odd/off-putting that the read-only NTFS drive looks the same as a writable encrypted drive.

Silver is for removable drives, like USB thumb sticks. Gold is for external hard disks. How macOS tells the difference, I couldn't tell you. But it doesn't have anything to do with the encryption or drive format.

I know it does because unencrypted SSDs show as silver icons, while encrypted show as gold.

All the drives are external SSDs.

I want to change the icon of the NTFS formatted disk to red.
