I'm sorry, just can't find the answer, and its latr. I have a AppleTV 4k a few years old. It had been on ethernet but I needed to run a wireless experiment. Now I want to change back to ethernet. I thought that when I plugged the ethernet cable back in it would switch but that doesn't seem to be happening with the current OS. I went through and deleted the wifi configuration and restarted. Do I need to re-setup the AppleTV? Without wireless it is not finding the internet.

I know in "Wireless connections" there's an option for Ethernet...maybe check that?

Are you plugged into a TV or an AVR? The problem will be on that side. on My stuff you physically have to go back into the settings on the AVR, or TV to put is back the an HDMI connection. it is just a checkbox.

Thinking back.... I wonder if this is one of the devices with a fried ethernet interface after a nearby lightning strike... hmmm. I may be just wasting our time. Sorry about that.

It is an A1842 (64GB) 1st gen ATV4k with OS 16.5. It acts like the ethernet port is dead, the physical connection status light does not light up at the ethernet switch. Ethernet is not shown as an interface option in the menu, only choice of WiFi network.

As an aside, I couldn't figure out how to revert my Gen 3 ATV4K to ethernet, and was in a rush, so I just reset it to factory and started over.

if there's an ethernet cable is plugged in, it uses ethernet, and disables wifi.
If no ethernet plugged in, it tries to use wifi
