change icons

i just got a VLC icon that i want to use from deviant art....now how do i replace the old vlc icon with this one?

yeah i tried that the first time. but i just get the blank sheet with picture of the little boy that says PNG....and not an icon

Install Candy Bar and then use the Application section of that to change it? Find VLC in the list, and then drag and drop.

EDIT: Just out of interest, what icon are you using?

Before you install any software just get info (cmd-i) on the app. Check 'Ownership & Permissions'. Make sure this is set to 'Read & Write'. If it is read only or no access you will not be able to change the icon.
