Hi guys, please forgive my ignorance, can someone help me with a question? On my 2011 iMac 27” 32GB RAM and i7 2600, I have the NVIDIA K610M 1GB graphics card installed and I want to put in the Nvidia K5000M 4GB, is it possible? Would it be like taking one out and putting in another? I mean modifying the software!!! I understand that it means changing one for another.

How did you get the K610 in your iMac? Someone else did it for you?
What is the condition of the Nvidia K5000m?
If you do things rights and the card was well prepared, it is possible and plug-n-play....

Hello, thank you for answering, you are of great help to me.
I tell you...
It is a Mac from late 2011 with an i7 2600 processor and Quadro K610M by nikey22 1GB graphics.

When I bought it it came with i5, 8GB, and the graphics that I mentioned, I expanded it, now that I have a little money I want to expand the graphics, to continue working since my finances are not very good and I cannot buy another computer new.
I have thought about the Quadro K5000m 4GB graphics card, it actually meets what I need but I don't know if it will be implemented well with my imac, say that I have the 3-tube heatsink in the absence of using a dremel machine to reduce the heatsink since the k610m has a copper die on the chip.

My bootRom is updated.
I don't know if what I show you is enough to plug and play.

I don't have much knowledge but I can defend myself in something.

So you have only thought about the K5000m, not yet located it.
By default, Quadro K5000m is a card for Windows laptops and not fully supported by iMac.
Therefore it needs to be flashed with a modified vBIOS to make it funtion like a native Apple card like the description I quoted above.
So, you need to verify that with the seller of the card first.
The seller might also sell the modified 3 pipe heatsink as well, if you are not the DIY type.

I've carved my own 3 pipe heatsinks with an angle grinder, another time with a power drill with so-so result. I don't have Dremel.

Well, the truth is that I have thought about that graph because I understand that it is the best one that adapts to my iMac. Do you know anything better? I know that the k5000m is compatible with Metal.
I talked to the seller and he tells me that it is ready to plug and play.
I understand that it has the modified vbios like the k610m that I have. I already have something to solve the heatsink issue, so on that side it's solved.

If the seller said so, I suppose he flashed the vBIOS and tested for you before shipping.
Then there should be any problem for your iMac to work with that card, provided that you don't mess things up when opening your iMac to do the replacement.
I messed up twice, to be honest, and later had to bring my iMac to a phone repair shop for re-soldering knocked-off components on the logicboard.

hi, friend !!!

Thank you for responding and being interested, thank you.

Luckily I have opened my imac many times and I am careful, I guess everything will work...
Airport/bluetooth
Well, I'll tell you when I plug it in.

Will this K5000m card work with Sonoma, Sequoia?

greetings from spain

I don't have experience on newer Mac OS. I stop at Monterey.
However, I know a guy who has done a hackintosh PC with K620 on Sequoia. So the necessary kexts are there.
Check OCLP page below to see the issues. K5000m is Kepler-M variant (Legacy Metal GPU)

Hi, I see that the K5000m quadro has a 100 watt driver, will I have any problems????
