SL has this new feature where you can display the date in the menu bar beside the clock. However, it shows my date as "Oct 27" even though I set my date format as "27 Oct". Is there any way to change this?

Go to System preferences>Language and Text>Format and change everything you want.

Thanks for all the replies. I did this already, and it's still on Oct 27. Might try iStatMenus when I have time.

iStat did it for me too.
I have set iStat, to exactly emulate the look of Apple's own time display, but with the exact format and info, I desire.

As a free bonus I get all interesting timezones, a quick calendar display and the week number, when I click once on the time.

I like the most, that it is completely customizable.
