Change SMS Background Without Winterboard

Any updates on this at all, I have been messing around with what everyone else is saying and I cant figure it out for the life of me.

LOL! I don't know any other way to change the background without winterboard. I've tried replacing the files manually and they don't change. It is really strange.

I use winterboard now. The background I have displays fine since it's a plain image.

i really dont want to install winterboard just for this, but i have no choice 🙁

same here..been searching to do this for a while and still no luck.

i thought every customization can be done manually, afterall, winterboard is just the middle man. i wonder where else the original background resides.

changing those two files does not change the background

i was messing around with those all of last night with no luck


and the reason why i don't want to use winterboard is because it conflicts with lockinfo

Sorry for replying to such an old thread but I need help with the background dimensions. i have an iPhone 4 with iOS 4.2.1. When I put my phone in landscape the right side has a white "bar" sort of. I've been playing with the dimensions and just can't get it to work. I have it as 640x920.
