One of the "features" I've missed about Windows ever since I switched over years ago is being able to view my files in Finder sorted by name BUT keep the folders at the top / beginning. As you all know, when you choose sort by name in Finder view preferences, it mixes the folders in with the rest of the files, which I find extremely annoying. I thought I'd get used to it but I never really did...

Is there any sort of third-party app, extension, or Terminal hack that will let me change that? Thanks for the help!

An hour's worth of work shows this can't be done easily. :| Pathfinder, according to some, does this, but appeared unstable on my machine. There are various hacks, but applicable only when you sort by KIND.

Best available information is probably this
