This drives me crazy about macs. I have a 24" screen and when I open a new finder window in column view the columns are like 190px wide. You can't see half the filenames unless you increase the size of each individual column every time. Is there somewhere to set the default column widths? Same thing goes for the save as... and open... windows. What's the point of a big screen when everything opens half the size you need it to be?

Ah, if you option + resize the columns they stay that way. Whew! I still think it's stupid for Apple to pick the smaller size as a default.
