Hi,

After spilling a drink on my Macbook Pro (2011) the other day I've just realised that two keys on my keyboard aren't working. Fortunately they're not overly important, just the hyphen key and another symbol one. As a student however I do quite often use the hyphen and whilst I can insert it by typing 'hyphen' into Google and copying and pasting, it would be great if say I could reprogram the '\' key (one that I never use) to give me a hyphen.

Is this possible?

Hi,

you might do this :

System Preferences / Keyboard / Text.

Click the "+" sign, type in "hy" in the left column ("Replace"), and the "-" in the right column ("With"). Hit Enter.

Now whenever you type hy you will get a -

Or use Ukelele to reprogram a key.
