I did a six mile walk today, but i logged it as a six mile cycling workout. My stats are now all off. Is there any way to change it to a walk after the fact?

In the health app under activity under workouts you can manually add a new one and delete this one. I don’t believe you can change type of the workout.

I understand that your stats are now all off, quite annoying.
What I do wonder however, does the Watch (or the Health app) calculates the kcal differently - depending on the activity type?

Good question! I had the same issue on two other type workouts and wanted to get in this thread for replies. Couldn't figure out how to do it!

I think it must. It gave me around 100 calories for a six mile walk when I usually get 500 - 600.

I’ve always wondered this…but I think it does. I think the algorithms take into account what sort of muscle groups are being activated by a particular exercise. If you google 20 min bike ride vs 20 min run with the same heart rate, the run will come back burning more calories.

Thanks for thinking along. Unfortunately, it remains thinking.
Hmm, I may get in touch with Apple about this.

Had a brief conversation with Apple Support this morning.
The person just confirmed what we already knew:

1- you can't change a workout after it has been logged
2- the type of activity is taken into account when calculation calories (though he didn't know how exactly)

Related to this topic, but probably not of direct help to the OP:

Suggested by the support person:

With the activity type "Multisport", the watch tries to interpret your movements, heart beat... to determine what it is you're doing at any given moment and adapt the calorie count on the fly. It's being recommended for triathletes and the likes. This may be a good choice in case you're not sure which activity type to go by.

Found in the online Help:

Also, the activity type "Other" without further specification, will assume you're in a walking activity.

FWIW...
I've been doing this workout daily, for the past 5-6 months. On the step for 11 sequels of 3min each (2min as fast as I can and 1min slowing down).
Out of curiosity, today I launched it as a HIIT instead of a regular Step activity. Below is a 4 day overview.
No difference in calories - so no extra snack for me tonight :p

Try lifting for 30 min and then HIIT for 30. How does that turn out. Here’s mine.

I really hope this option is added in the future.
A couple of times I have started a run instead of a walk or vice versa.
I can correct it in Strava but my Apple stats are off.

In terms of algorithm I would have thought the software would be able to re-adjust if exercise type changed in same way as Strave does.
