I've recently switched from a 15" Macbook Pro to a 17" Macbook Pro, but its very irritating. I've named the computer the exact same thing, used migration assistant to move from one to the other, but when I try to get something from a time machine backup I made in the previous machine, it won't let me see that far back.

How can I get the files I deleted a long time ago on the previous machine on this new machine. I can't use the old one as it's been reformatted and now used as "server" type thing at my home.

Please let me know if I need to rephrase this query. Thanks 🙂

!: Oh, and the reason I post it here, is because all of these files are on a 1Tb Time Capsule drive and I figured it was something I needed to do in the Time Capsule but I can't figure it out.

Go to disk utility, and once the hard drive is detected, erase the drive. You cannot just drag out the back ups because they are hidden.

Hope this helps
