Changing Apple ID email

I wasn't sure which section to put this under, as I use this with my iPhone and my Macs, so if it's in the wrong section I apologize.

I just have a question. I need to change the email address associated with my Apple ID (iTunes, Apple Music account, etc.) I'm having problems with that certain third-party email address, and I just want to change it to one of my other addresses for safety and convenience.

I've never done this in the whole time I've had the account - my question is, do I just follow the steps on the Apple Support page? For people who've done it, is there anything I need to do before I sign out of all of my devices? Or is it a pretty smooth process?

It is a smooth process using the Appleid site. It will take just a few moments. If you don’t log out on your devices prior to the change, you will be prompted to afterward.
