My Apple ID is "dumbperson@me.com" (not really, but). I want to change it to one email that I use, which is "goodperson@me.com"

Using the Apple Instructions (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202667) I'm only offered as choices "dumbperson@mac.com" and "dumbperson@icloud.com" The only choices are basically the same, as the choices don't change the name in front of the @.

The email "goodperson@me.com" is listed on my account page as one way I am "reachable"

Is there a way to change Apple ID to that "goodperson@me.com" address?

Thanks!

Sometimes it helps to direct to the source, Apple support. You may have to work your way past a few people in the support system, but Apple actually does do a good job about handling account support questions.

To you and @Weaselboy (because I know you both are knowledgeable about these topics) is there any reason not to use an iCloud Alias as the Apple ID?

Fo years I had Good@gmail.com. Back in 2011 I made my iCloud different by one character for no real reason and I hate it now. I made an alias as Good@iCloud.com

Is there any reason not to use the alias instead of the actual iCloud email?

I'm not sure if they will even let you. But if it works, I see no reason not to.

Yeah, I decided to give it a shot and they said my Apple ID couldn’t end in @iCloud.com, but when I out in my primary iCloud email it worked.
Aww well.
