Changing contact in Mac Contacts App -> to iCloud?

Hey everyone,

If I change a contact or add one on the iCloud website. . . when I open my Contacts app on the Macintosh , the contact will be there.

However, when I add a contact on the Mac App on the Mac, it will not go to the cloud to be seen in iCloud.

All the correct boxes are ticked obviously since it syncs one way.

Is this the norm?

Is your Contacts>Preferences>General>Default Account set to the iCloud account?
