Changing Hard Drives

So I just learned that the reason my Mac Book is so slow is because I need to update my hard drive (from to 250G to a 500G). At the same time, my 160G PS3 seems to need a bigger hard drive as well. So I'm buying a new 500G hard drive for my Mac Book. But my question is: Can I completely wipe the data on my current 250G hard drive so that I can then use it in my PS3? Oh and the PS3 uses standard 2.5 drives so size isn't an issue.

Yes the PS3 can use the drive as long as it has the SATA interface.

Well my Mac Book just has too much information on it (it's not dying or anything), I need just more space. When I have my new HD with 500G in my Mac, I'm going to have the original HD from the Mac Book just kicking around, so I figured I could use it in my PS3. But I don't know what the steps would be to erasing everything on the original Mac HD so that I can put it into my PS3.

Try to get a hybrid if you want your machine to feel zippy.

Even the first generation Momentus XT 500GB will do, if you find it at a good price.
