Changing icons on Desktop

At present some of the icons on my Desktop are just boring file folders. What do I do to change their looks... like changing them to a picture etc ?

Get Info (Command-I) click on the icon the paste (Command-V) your new image.

I used LiteIcon to change my icons. It worked rather well.
