Hi I have an Apple ID which was created and came with an icloud.com email address, which is the primary email address associated with the account. I have recently purchased a domain for the family, and thus no longer need iCloud's email function, although I need all other features. I would like to now make my new email address the primary Apple ID but sadly this is not possible. Once this is done I would then delete the icloud email address and disassociate it from the Apple ID altogether. Please advise ZJ
I think this is (or was) possible. Look at this http://support.apple.com/kb/ph2622 but it seems to refer to the previous release of iCloud... You may want to create a new iCloud and just move forwards... ---------- Actually go here and you may find what you seek : https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/wa/directToSignIn?localang=en_US ps. sorry for messy response but it took me some time to find it again Hope this is what you were looking for
I don't know if it's possible, but many people here (including me) who use an external address would love to be able to do the opposite (i.e. switch to using their icloud address as Apple ID instead of the external one, so it's independent of changing email addresses etc.). Unfortunately that is currently not possible. May I ask why you want to do this? Nobody forces you to use the iCloud email function (and you could simply forward it to your new address).
