Changing Regions On Superdrive

I'm hoping someone can help with the following.

1. Does anyone know anything about Softpedia's Region X 1.1 for Mac ? Is it safe to use, and will it allow me to change the region on my MatSHitadVD-R UJ-825 any number of times without problems as it claims ? (Noting the change is through DVD Player).

I'm running 10.4.11 on a G4 PowerPC

I believe you must make your drive region free before you can change an infinite number of times.

How can I make my MacBook Pro region free, and will this void any warranty if I have to reflash the firmware on it?
