Hi,

Our supplier fitted an internal drive upgrade and a RAM upgrade (having not asked them to) and for some reason they booted the new machine too, I'm guessing to test the RAM?

Anyway they named the Machine 'Admin' which is a bit of a ball ache as I only noticed this about a day into building a Pro Tools install for my client.

I've changed the log-in to what my client wanted but when I connect to this MP over wireless the 'name' of it is still 'admin' as well as the 'home' page. It looks pretty crap and like i've named it that.

My questions are;

1) Can I change this, and;
2) Is it advisable? Will it cause any damage to the already written directory?

Cheers.

If you google "change name of Mac" on your first hit you will find what you're looking for.

E.g. From the first link:

Changing your Mac name:

Launch ‘System Preferences’
Click the ‘Sharing’ icon
Type in what you want your Mac’s new computer name to be
Close ‘System Preferences’ – it’s that easy

Bloody hell, who knew it was that easy!

Thanks.
