I am curious if anyone has had any luck with installing a High-Res matte screen on a 2012 MBP (or any Unibody) that originally came with a low-res Glossy screen. I am considering purchasing a 2012 MBP, but all that the store has in stock are the awful Glossy models. I wish to get it now so I can get everything installed, swap out the RAM and HDD for an SSD, and whatever other warranty-voiding fun there is to have. What sorts of things would this process involve? I have done a bit of looking around to see what it involves with various laptops, and it seems to vary quite a bit from laptop to laptop, but oddly, I couldn't seem to find anything about the process of replacing one screen type with another on MBP's. It seemed that on other laptops, it was sometimes as simple as just switching in the LCD and Controller, whereas others required as much as Firmware modification and Inverter changes. Would this require changing the LED's and Inverters too or something? A search turned up these two screens; http://www.rossmannsupply.com/15-4-macbook-pro-lcds/a1286-macbook-pro-lcds/ltn154mt07matte.html http://www.rossmannsupply.com/15-4-...-lcds/lp154we3-tlb1-lp154we3-tl-b1-matte.html
Don't really feel like waiting anywhere between 3 days to 5 weeks to get a new functional laptop, while my current one is driving me crazy...
