Changing the Shipping Address on Apple.com

In years past, I have been able to call customer service and get my shipping address changed... Do you think that'll be possible this year? Anyone else in the same predicament?

At the moment, I get this notification when I try to change it on Apple.com

"According to the policy of your wireless service provider, the iPhone in this order can only be shipped to your current wireless billing address. Other items can be shipped to different addresses."
 
I have a similar question - somehow in the rush to get a launch day delivery, I had it shipped to my home instead of work, where I will not be there to sign for it.

I don't even want to attempt a shipping address change, in fear of losing my launch day delivery. Is it possible for me to have it held at the distribution center, before they make a delivery attempt? I've picked things up from my local UPS distribution center after one delivery attempt has been made, but is it possible to have it held there without them attempting delivery the first time? Would be great if I could pick it up Friday morning before work!
 
You should be able to change it. I changed mine right after I discovered it was being sent to my fiancee's house.
I did buy mine outright though.
 
Apple.com won't let me change my shipping address online, and I'm nervous about asking a customer service rep to do it in case it impacts my ship date.

If I change it through UPS, any idea if that has impacted delivery date in the past? Any luck with holding it at a distribution center?
 
Web site chat says they are really busy right now and try again later. Changing the shipping, billing, or anything else should not impact your delivery date. Just try to chat or call them later today, or even in a few days, and it should be fine.
 
previously there was a small window after the order was processed, i think when it was being prepared for shipment you were able to change the shipping address.

You're probably right - I just really don't want to risk anything. Has anybody else had success with changing the shipping address via web chat and had their delivery date stay the same?

If you change the delivery address it could delay the package a day. I've had it happen both ways -- delay and no delay. Both were for p/u at a nearby UPS Store. OTOH if your package ships FedEx I've never had any delay to have delivery rerouted to FedEx Office.
 
I changed my shipping address but then again, I bought my phone outright.

Thinking my safest bet is to leave the Apple shipping address alone, and to use UPS MyChoice to pick a shipping window early or late enough that I can be home. Worst case scenario they make a failed delivery attempt and I pick it up that night (or Monday) at the distribution center.

Waiting an extra day for UPS is better than risking weeks in case something goes wrong with changing my address with Apple.

I have been unable to get through to Apple chat, I might just call and wait out the hold times. If it is any vote of confidence, I have successfully changed this shipping address in previous iPhone pre-orders without impacting my ship date

There's a difference between changing the shipping address before and after it ships. Since nothing has actually been shipped yet, it should have no impact. Once the package ships with the "wrong" address on it, then they need to submit to FedEx and they need to update in their system, reroute it, possibly move it to a different truck, etc... which all takes more time.

Apple chat is just slammed right now. If you wait until the end of the day or even tomorrow it will be better. It won't make any difference to your order.
 
I tried to update my shipping address (IUP - Verizon) through apple chat and they said they couldn't change it because the loan was approved for the shipping address provided and I would have to cancel and re order to change shipping. That seems like a huge issue having shipping addresses completely locked. If anyone gets in contact with them let me know what they say. I may have to go the UPS MyChoice route.

Good to know - I'm also IUP - Verizon. UPS MyChoice it is then.

Honestly, just glad to get it launch day. Even if it gets delayed one day, that's better than a multi-week delay.
 
i just changed my shipping address thru apple website without any issues. Date still showing Nov 3. you can make changes while its still showing Order in Process

That is not promising, I swear in years past I've changed it with AT&T.

To clarify, I'm talking about changing the delivery address with UPS, not Apple. You can't change the delivery address with UPS until a tracking number is issued and status is "shipped."
 
Go to the Apple order status page and you should be able to change the address there. I noticed that the zip code was wrong on mine and was able to change it this morning.
