Changing TM Backup Intervals

Hello everyone. TM has filled my 160GB HD pretty quickly. If my computer is not sleeping, it backups every hour. Is there a way to change this? I know an app does it, but does it still do the normal functions like only backup the 'touched' files?

Please advise.
