macOS chapter 2 in hillegass without xib/nibs?

Hi,

I want to try my hand at making cocoa apps without any nibs. For starters, i want to make the app from chapter 2 of hillegass' book, but i just don't know how to start. How do I create the objects and dynamically set the position/properties/etc..
