yes i have it on(settings -> messages -> character count -> on). Don't see the character counter at all when texting

Same thing is happening to my friend

It also only shows once you have made enough characters to push the text input line to two lines.

If after that you still don't see it. Maybe try a hard reset?

yea i tried typing a friggin paragraph, still doesn't show. Gonna try another hard reset

Very weird. Hopefully the hard reset will fix it for you. If not, i'm stumped

Mine only works in SMS mode, not iMessage. I'm guessing cause there's no penalty for sending a long text in iMessage.

He got it working. The hard reset does wonders 😀
