I was hoping to charge my new 11” iPad Pro with the 29W USB-C charger that came with my 12” MacBook from 2015. Is it okay as I think the charger that came with the iPad Pro is a lower wattage than that.

I think I have read before that charging with a higher powered charger is okay for iPhones, etc and the drive only takes what it needs. Is this correct?

I believe that's true- the iPad will only take what it needs from the charger. Similar to the way iPhone owners use iPad chargers because they charge faster.

Thanks for that. It’s charging as we speak and seems okay. Was just concerned about long-term damage.

Anyway: the 29W charger supports USB PD at 14.5V-2A, which will fast charge your iPad at the full 29W a lot faster than the included 18W adapter. Great, isn't it?

Yeah, but I want a charger from a good company that offers enough watts, has USB-C PD to charge the ipad quickly, while also having USB ports to charge my iphone, apple watch and drive my USB powered travel clock too... 🙂
