From my experience it runs fine. I don't usually use it like that, only if I have to. I'm sure extended use is not good for the charger at all. I'm willing to bet you get a lot of mixed opinions about this though.

I use my 65W charger all the time. Extended use has been fine. It is much nicer to pack and carry if needed. I've used it for almost a year and a half.

Does anyone actually know anything about this though? Other than the fact that I've done it, I don't know that its a good/bad thing. I would also think it might charge a little slower because it doesn't have the full 85w.

It charges a LOT slower than the 85watt one. And if you do anything cpu intensive it takes agggeees!!! hehe

If you're doing something CPU intensive, you'd probably be using the adapter power as well as the battery power (used as a buffer), significantly slowing the charging process.

Using the larger charger with a MacBook is not a problem. The MacBook will only draw 65W, so it will be fine.
