I have an expensive actual apple charger that I ordered from the apple store that is 6 foot in length and great for beside my bed. I have always been careful to unplug it correctly but to my shock last night I saw a little black fray. Would white electrical tape work ok? UGH not happy.

Black tape will not fix it if frayed. I have been in an Apple store before and a customer brought in a bad cable and the Geek replaced it free of charge with no questions asked. I do not understand as I have never had a single Apple cable go bad, ever.

Wish we had an Apple store close by

I had Apple replace my wife's original cable for her iPhone 5 once. I wasn't surprised because at the time she had her wall charger in a spot and her phone set in such a way that a 90º bend consistently occurred. Over time that constant and repeated bending when plugging in to charge caused the cable to fray and blacken.

Since then she's situated things where her cable is always plugged in straight.

I agree having one close nice for sure. So many 3rd party fake cables out there, the Apple store is the only place I would trust anymore.
Walmart sells genuine Apple cables. Just a thought…

Guess I will take my so called wireless fast charger to my bedroom since it will be on the device and see if it actually fully charges the phone. I was never rough with this charger.

My husband remembered this product he had and wound some around my cable and it is working great. It is a self sealing silicone and isn't sticky. I hope it continues to work. It isn't exactly leaky, but it works

Anker iPhone chargers and cables are known as “the most durable” and I swear by them. The oem Apple cable feels like a toy compared to it.
