When does Apple charge your CC or debit card when you pre order, when you order or when the iPhone ships?

When do they ship them to get them to us by launch day?

I was wondering the same thing as no one from Apple or AT&T stated. People on here are giving conflicting answers as well.

Apple ships them when they need to. Probably a few days. I know that they do authorize the card. What that total is? That is the main question.
