I was wondering what the best way to charge an iPad is. Somewhere I read that phones should be allowed to discharge so that they are between 30% and 40% before being charged. I have done it that way since. Is it the same with iPads or can I just plug it in when I am done with it at the end of the night and not worry about it. Or does it not matter at all?

Nothing matters. Plug it in whenever you want and leave it plugged in as long as you want. You could own two identical iPads, treat one with kid gloves, and the other like I suggest, and I don't think you would find any significant difference years into the experiment.

This is untrue, if anything this will decrease battery life due to the increase in charging time and therefore heat up the battery which can decrease battery life. Whenever a drain my Samagung 21S Ultra down to around 40% and charge it, boy does the phone get HOT!

This isn’t good for the battery!

Also, charging at a slower rate will improve battery life, so going from the supplied 20w charger to a 30W may actually increase heat build up during charging.

What? Heat has nothing to do with depth of discharge. OP, charge to whatever you like, whenever you like, for however long you like.

Just from my experience. I charged my prior Note 20 Ultra by letting the charge decrease to between 30% and 40% and then recharging it for over two years and it has essentially the same battery capacity as it did when it was new. Or at least it appears to because the battery as long as it did when it was new.

That’s the thing about battery charging. There are seemingly as many methods as there are people with phones. I have never gotten a clear answer to this question.

Also, I have not noticed any real heat when charging my iPhone. If anything, it seems to charge cooler than any phone that I have had. Even when using MagSafe charging.
