I really do not know if this just normal behavior, but I am using my old iPhone 10s charging adapter to charge my 12 Mini.

But sometimes, when I insert the lightning cable into the charging port, it does not charge or recognized and then I have to insert about three times to get it recognized. But charging port is clean and I am using an Apple Leather case and it seems that the case is aligned perfectly so it it does not obstruct or block any part of the charging port. The lightning cable seems to be fine with no noticeable damage.

However, this morning, when I inserted the lightning cable to the charging port, I saw a message as below:
"Unlock iPhone to use accessories” But it did not charge even when unlocking the phone.

Do anyone else have this issue as well?

This is just random behavior.

Have you got another charger and cable to try?

Does the charger have any wear and tear on the pins? Or burn looking marks on it?

I got to double check it with a magnifying glass. I am trying to remember that as soon as I setup my phone after purchasing it, it did charge from the beginning without issues.

What I do notice, that when I insert the charging cable to the charging port at a very slight right angle, its mostly recognizes the charging.

Had this issue recently with a apple 2m usb c to lightning cable, would take 2-3 tries until my 12 pro max would start charging, eventually the cable stopped working, new cable no issues, ended up being the cable that was the problem.

$55 down the toilet. 🙄🤦‍♂️

For a premium company, apple lightning cables are absolute garbage, tear easily and don’t last as long as the other manufactures cables.

You’d think since it’s 2021 they’d give us a option to buy a apple braided usb c to lightning cable, instead of that cheap garbage plastic thing that they call a cable. 🙄🤦‍♂️

Probably the cable... I’ve had so many of those crappy lightning cables break. Could also be a slightly loose port if you’ve been tugging a lot on the cables over time...

I just recently bought the Mini not long ago and always had been gentle on the charging port. I found another cable and I’ll try that.

Well, it’s happening randomly on my 13 mini as well. I inserted the usb-c to lightning cable to the lightning port and it did not recognize the charging. And I got the 13 mini just recently about 3 months ago.

Cable looks good.

Then I tried inserting it again and now it’s charging.

Is this perhaps that the lightning port gets filled with lint as the phone is in my Jean pocket most of the time?
