Charging MacBook Pro 14 with 96W usb c cable

Can you use the usb c port to charge the MacBook and get the 96W from the charger or do you have to use the MagSafe connection?
 
Thunderbolt charging ends at 100 watts. So you can use the 96 w charger. For higher tier mbp 2021 m1 max you will need mac safe to charge the laptop with 140 watts 😉.
