Hey guys , I recently bough a mbp m4 max and i have invested on it so much money so im scared to make any lil mistake haha

on my setup its on a clumshell mode 24/7 with the original charger and magsafe cable

now when i go outside i want a charger and a cable too ofc but i want to buy on a budget , i dont want to pay for the apple products

any ideas guys ? 🙂

You didn't mention your usage pattern. Unless you max out the CPU/GPU often and for long periods of time, the MBP doesn't consume 140W.

Well you’ve yourself written how you’ve invested so much, why skimp on the power supply?

My current machine is a 16” M2 Max that came with the 140 W charger. I’m curious when they actually stopped supplying one?

You can charge it with a 30 Watt charger if you want. Thats what I travel with, because it’s lightweight. I use the Mac all day and charge it in my hotel overnight.

If you’re running highly compute intensive software continually, you might want a higher powered charger. But if you’re mostly email and browsing while traveling, you will get ten hours of battery life on a charge.

One other thing — I know you can use the Mac in clamshell mode, but I prefer to keep the lid open so that air can ventilate through the keyboard. Maybe someone here knows for sure if open lid ventilates better, cause I’m not certain one way or the other.
