Of course it seemed to fix itself with a restart of the watch (S7) but I had not seen this before and couldn't find anything in the forums or on the net so thought I'd ask.

I only wear my watch to sleep and exercise. Last night putting on my watch I noticed it hadn't charged. This morning when I put it back on the charger I noticed it didn't ping and the charging ring went to 78% and then did a hard cut in of a couple of mm's into the circle. Was going to take a picture but did a restart and I got a ping and lost the cut in, thinking of it as a fishhook.

Probably describing this wrong but anyone with an idea of what was going on?

Thanks in advance.

Update (10 min after the restart)...thoughts?

Don’t worry, it’ll stop working shortly. There’s a bug or something in 10.0 and I think still in 10.1 where this new feature works like one time and then not again after that. My SE2 has it work one night and I haven’t seen it again since, despite a completely stable sleep and wake routine.

And of course the hook is gone today....

Yes, that does happen when the device decides that it is charging to 100%, then the hook is gone. As mentioned, the hook is a graphical indicator of how much the battery will be charged to. 100% means full circle, therefore no hook; 80% means a little more than ¾ of the circle, therefore the hook is at the point that is just above ¾ around the circle.

Optimized charging isn't a constant percentage. It fluctuates depending on how you use it and when you charge it.

We know how it works. But it doesn’t WORK. I go to bed and charge my watch at the same time every night every day in the same house. I wake up at the same time daily. My watch charges to 100% every single time. And no - I don’t drain it. When I go to bed I still have at least 65% battery. The feature just doesn’t work.

Thanks for explaining that you know how it works. I thought the person I was responding to didn't know how it worked since he was asking about what the "hook" was in an earlier post.

And I further explained that yes, the hook can go away.

My explanation though has nothing to do with confirming or denying that the feature works in the latest iOS version. Thank you.

Hey thanks to all, I appreciate the info. Like I said completely new to me, not worried about it but have a better idea of what to expect with it. Now I’ll just sit back and watch…no pun intended 🤣

Cheers
