If you buy an adapter that supports usb-c with Power Delivery you should be able to keep it charged under most operating conditions. Alternatively you can buy an inverter and just plug your regular wall charger into that.

I got a power inverter somewhere but would like more elegant solution. The SUV is from 2017 so probably will deliver enough power, will look into adapter with PD and 30W rating, thanks! Will there be a power loss if adapter with usb and not usb C? My understanding is that most usb to usb C cables are higher resistance that Apple USB C cable

Yes USB-PD power packs such as Anker and RavPower, connected by USB-C will charge the rMB at 30W, same as the wall charger. They will charge a flat rMB about 1.5x
