I bought my Apple TV the day it was released and have used it everyday. Just got my first 20% remaining message 4 days ago, almost 3 months.

Are you on a recent tvOS? I just got a "20%" message last week, but I have not seen it pop up much since. (maybe once or twice more?) Has anyone seen it report anything other than "20%"? If not, I wonder if the alert pops up more frequently when the actual amount is reaching critical level. I'll hold off on charging to find out and report back...

On a related note, I took charge of a beta ATV4 almost a year ago and this makes only the second time I will have had to charge the remote in the past 11 months! Very nice, Apple! Lots of daily use, though admittedly not much gaming - mostly iTunes, Netflix, YouTube, etc.. (Remote gets *lots* of use while developing my own apps too of course! :)

Update: Yesterday the "20% alert" started popping up more frequently. Going in to Settings/Remotes and Devices/Remotes, the battery life is actually reporting 16%.

So it appears (as of latest public release, anyway) that the "20%" alert could mean anything from 0-20 percent remaining. I'll let the battery drain continue and post another update here if the alert message changes as battery life approaches 0 percent.

I see you like to parse details and debate straw men rather than discuss the issues.

I stand by my statement, there is no easy way to quickly asses the battery status of the Siri remote of which I'm aware, even if it must be initially set up, unlike all other Apple battery powered products.

Enjoy picking your nits.

I normally would not reply to a thread that is 8 months old but I just wanted to add The last time I had to charge my remote was about the time this thread was first circulating.

I've let mine go dead out of curiosity before. It also shows 10%. I can't remember if it goes lower.

I'm VERY critical of the Siri Remote however the battery is one of the few things I have no complaints with. I actually love that it's rechargeable vs the watch battery my ATV3 remote used.

-It will warn you when it's low generally weeks before it will actually die.

-Overall it last months.

-It only takes about an hour or two to charge.

I can't imagine the circumstances where that is a problem. Even in some sort of worst case scenario where the remote dies completely and you are tryin' to Netflix and chill, a ten minute bump charge will get you another week or so of use.

Surely there is a hour over the course of a couple weeks of it warning you that you won't be using it to charge the remote. You don't have to charge it to 100% for it to work properly either. Think about it, what is the point of charging a device to 100% that last a few months? Unlike an iPhone that might not last you between places to charge that's not the case with the Siri Remote.

In the event it does die you can use any iOS device or universal IR/Bluetooth remote in its place.
