Charging via USB-C wall charger through adapter

Would the following work -

Use a USB-C to multiport USB-A hub coming out of the rMB. From one of those USB-A hub ports, run a USB-A to USB-C cable which would then plug into the stock Apple wall charger. Would this setup allow the rMB to charge?

I can't tell if the power "flow" works directionally like this?

I don't believe that would work. The best option is to get the Apple multiport adapter and plug in a USB-A hub into the USB-A slot. That way you can charge using the USB-C port on the adapter.

Thanks, that's what I figured. I am having a hard time justifying the price for the Apple adapter. I was thinking about trying 1 of these, but they don't ship for a while...
