I'm not really sure what the people who paid for tickets and went to see him were expecting...

He's not a mess - not how you put it or many are thinking. he's completely done with the industry, the bull, the cheerleading & the insults - kiss-assing was long done by this guy.

I think this is ALL intentional by Sheen. The first quote says it all - yet he asks the audience if their confused by it. It was intended this way. In about 60/90days we won't hear ANYTHING about Charlie ... then some 3yrs down the road we will and it will be a "ho-hum" moment that'll blow us away with a star performance.

Artists do this all the time, but less subtle. To mind Joachim has done this recently. Self-destruction the only way to reach top is to reach rock-bottom.

Getting fired using near anti sematic jokes and having your childern taken is pretty messy. Id say that the first weeks of crap between getting fired the interviews were a breakdown or being really high. At this point it is pretty much intentional.

I imagine the Detroit debacle was the first time in the last few months that the baseball bat of reality hit Charlie square in the face, and he finally realized that sunlight doesn't just automatically shine from his bellybutton.

I don't know who came up with the new Inside the Actor's Theatre format, but at least it looks like it'll save his butt. Unlike ItAT, though, it doesn't sound like scintillating material. I'm sure it'll satisfy his audience and get him through the remainder of the tour, though.

I read that somebody from Live Nation is the one on stage with him. They want these shows to go on obviously.

I'm sure they prefer that to canceling them and refunding everybody's money.

I kinda figured somebody sat Charlie down and had a long talk with him. I couldn't see Charlie himself, in his current state of mind, completely reimagining the show and hiring an interviewer to go on the road, all in less than 24 hours.

Dealing with temperamental celebrities as they do, I'd also bet that the Live Nation guys were so glib and sycophantic that by the time they were done explaining it to him, Charlie believed that he came up with the idea. :D

Frankly, considering the opening night disaster, it's a pretty good turnaround. I doubt the idea has "legs" though. Yeah, the guy's got fans (or at least onlookers), but the show still sounds like an R-rated version of an interview on Piers Morgan. And how many times can even his staunchest fans listen to him talk about how great he is and how anyone who criticizes him is an idiot?

I mean, the show's working now, but I also expect it to get stale pretty quick. With the rest of Hollywood keeping him at arm's length, I wonder what he's going to do next.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if they had this plan 'B' arrangement ready all along, and did everything they could to get Sheen to go with it at the first opportunity.

To paraphrase an old adage, they are making hay while the sun shines. If Sheen and Live Nation clear a few million from this tour, the fans are going to be looking like the real idiots.

If Sheen's side show act brings in money Hollywood will be begging him to do projects. Crazy means ratings and lots of cash. As long as Charlie can walk the fine line from playing crazy to the cameras to actually hurting someone he will still be sought after.

How many does he have to hurt, to acquire this status?

He's at 300-odd now. Not enough??
