I went to watch the History Channel app on my ATV the other night and it came up with an activation code and URL. So I go to the URL with the intention of authenticating. In looking for my cable provider in the very extensive list that is there, I see no Charter cable. So I call Charter customer support and ask what gives. It runs out Charter and Apple have no agreement in place for the use of the apps on the Apple TV. Of course Charter blames Apple for this.

How in the heck is what seems like every cable provider out there able to cut a deal with Apple and not Charter? Seems pretty dumb to me.

Thanks for letting me rant about this!

They DO have an agreement for the use of apps on Apple TV, it just varies based on the app. I have Charter and ESPN or CNBC work fine. But CNN or History? Not so much. There's no rhyme or reason to it.

It has zero to do with Apple. It's all based on content agreements between Charter and the networks, in this case History Channel (or their parent, A&E Networks)
